Welcome to FULBCC

Welcome to the FUL Biodiversity Conservation Club (FUL-BCC) - a vibrant community of conservationists, researchers, and nature lovers dedicated to protecting the biodiversity of Lokoja and beyond. For us, conservation is not just a duty; it’s a shared cause to secure the future of wildlife and nature. While our core focus is on birds, our efforts extend to other wildlife and ecosystems. Our members - students, lecturers, researchers, and volunteers - are united by a passion for nature and a deep commitment to field research, education, and sustainability. Our mission is to inspire the next generation of conservation leaders through scientific research, environmental education, and community action. We protect biodiversity through habitat restoration and field studies, raise awareness via workshops, campaigns, and citizen science, promote sustainable living and advocate for environmental policies, and foster a strong community of nature advocates. Our key activities include biodiversity surveys, bird monitoring, tree planting, school programs, citizen science initiatives like eBird, and strategic partnerships with environmental organizations. Biodiversity loss is one of the most urgent challenges of our time, especially in Africa, where ecosystems such as rainforests, savannas, and wetlands face increasing threats from deforestation, climate change, and unsustainable development. At FUL-BCC, we believe that every effort counts. Through a combination of scientific research and grassroots conservation, we are creating lasting impact - one species, one habitat, one community at a time.
